Documentation done by Wren Morris + The Khyber.

During the month of November (2018), Alexander began a 21-day cumulative piece- concluding the day after Trans Day of Remembrance. During this time frame they documented each day they were, or were not misgendered. This documentation was done through a self-tattooing process on the inside of their hands. At the end of each day they scanned their palms, preserved their tattooing materials, and collected qualitative data on their experiences. This practice resulted in a compilation of 21 images, 21 needles, an empty container of ink, and a collection of notes. Throughout this process, Alexander referred to a document outlining a 7-step process on “how to make or break a habit in 21 days”. A reflexive installation of this work was exhibited in the Khyber window exhibition space from October 1st- November 30th, 2019.
